lightning storm in Brisbane

Monday, December 1st, 2008

This happened about 2 weeks ago here in Brisbane. This is taken from Festival Towers, Brisbane CBD. It went on for about an hour. Strangely, it was all lightning and no thunder at all.

Contrary to what I write here on my blog, my life is actually pretty great!

I got the results for my final subject and I’ve passed! I have now, a Masters of Information Technology and my graduation is in December. I’m probably not attending it, cause my parents are not here and I don’t feel the need to take pictures of me in a gown.

Also, my boss is looking into sponsoring me, which we’ll start the process in January. If all things go well, I’ll be working here for a while before I think of what to do next. This didn’t happen for me the last time, and I do hope it will work out this time around.

Stephanie is coming to visit me at the end of the year. We’re planning to drive from Brisbane > Sydney > Melbourne. I’m not too sure if it’s a good idea, but if we actually go for it, wish us luck!

Now if only I can pay for my parents to come here for a holiday, one of my greatest dreams would come true.

living out of my suitcase

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

I’ve moved out of my house and am now living in the city with my friends. Again I have them to thank them for letting me stay and also helping me move my stuff. My previous housemates have somehow gotten back together after the whole girlfriend-beating, accusing me of sleeping with the girlfriend, cops coming over, door slamming fiasco. May they live happily ever after.

Yesterday I looked at all my stuff in suitcases. I kinda wished that I had less stuff, so I could fit it all of it in a backpackers bag or something. I’ve only stayed in the previous house for 2 months, before having to move again. Again, in a few weeks, I’ll have to move again to another house. I hate moving.

Which got me thinking, there was never a sense of permanency since I came here to Australia. Moving houses, trying to get a job, trying to extend my student visa, trying to get sponsored, trying to get a P.R. I can’t even sign a lease becase I’m not sure if I’ll be here in the next 6 months. I can’t even buy a car for the same reason.

Oh well, I’ll update more frequently when theres some sort of normalcy again.

October in photos

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

I can’t believe it’s been 2 months since I last posted photos.

October has been quite routine for me, getting to work, cycling whenever I can and hanging out with friends. Its supposed to be getting warmer but it’s been raining so it’s pretty cool.

Anyways, on to the photos:

I’m moving again

Friday, October 24th, 2008

After the incident 2 days ago, I’ve decided to move out of my current place. The woman kicked out her boyfriend. It would be a bad idea to stay, because the boyfriend might come back and make trouble again. Furthermore, her sister is moving in, so its best for all if I move out as well.

Kinda think of it, I was a bit too calm when the guy was accusing me of sleeping with her. I could only think of how ridiculous his accusations were. I think if it was someone else, it would’ve turned into an argument. I think he wanted to pick a fight but that’s somewhat impossible with me (if you knew me, you’d understand).

Anyways, I’m glad for her that has the courage to stand up to her useless, abusive drunkard of a boyfriend. She owns most of the stuff in the house anyways, so I think she has the right to kick him out. The cops gave him a stern warning, and put him on the watchlist (which isn’t really a criminal record). Still, he’s been awfully quiet since so I hope he’s learnt his lesson.

So that leaves me without a home for a while. A few of my friends have offered their place as refuge, and I’m very grateful for that. Although, its frustrating because I have to move my stuff all over again. (I’m still surprised by how much stuff I’ve accumulated).

Thinking back, I’ve only been in this house for a month. It’s much cleaner and nicer than my previous house, but there’s just something wrong with the vibe of the place, and I never quite settled in. Good thing that I’m moving, I suppose …

Well, time to pack my bags again!

domestic chaos

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

I live in a fucked up house. The couple I’m sharing an apartment with have been arguing the past few days. The first time it happened, the girl told me that she’s had too much to drink and she was just crying for no reason. That lit up my bullshit meter a bit, but I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt.

Today as I was in my room she came knocking on my door to ask to call the cops. The boyfriend is accusing her of sleeping with me. Shit ! No wonder he’s been giving me shit looks all this while. He’s very friendly usually, but damn you should see his face whenever she’s around.

The guy then told me that she’s slept around before. The girl then said the same of him. Who the hell do I believe? One moment she says she wants to move out, the next she keeps her bags. She just threw a glass bottle outside, and left the house. He’s drunk and passed out on the couch.

Note to self, never share accommodation with a couple again.

update 3:00am: She came back, they fought again and I shouted at both of them “If this happens again, I’m moving out”. They talked a bit, and she left again.

update 5:00am: She came back with the cops and they’re taking statements now. Oh, the cops just took him away. I’m still not getting any sleep.

moving moving

Monday, September 8th, 2008

In case you guys are wondering, I’ve not been hit by a car or something. I’ve been really busy moving as I’m now living closer to my workplace. I didn’t realise I have so much stuff! I came to Australia with 3 bags, and now I have boxes of all this crap! I’m lucky that Leon, Kenny and Johnson helped me move most of it, if not I’ll be lugging boxes on the bus on multiple trips.

Speaking of which, I was in Ikea today and strangely enough it reminded me a lof of Malaysia. Thing is, the Ikea here is just like the Ikea back home. You know, the wooden smell, the interior design, those oddly named furniture and not to mention the great coffee and meatballs. I kinda wish my room looks like an Ikea brochure.

On to other things, turns out my passport is expiring in June 2009. My mum did ask me about it, but I thought it was expiring in 2010. Now I have to fly to friggin Canberra just to renew my passport! I better do it soon, otherwise I can’t travel next year. Well, I’ll just treat it like a road trip and hope I get to see the War Memorial when I get there.

So yeah, sorry for the sporadic updates and I’ll scan in the new comics as soon as I get a new table.

ps: For the doubters, it’s been 2 weeks and I’m still single ok.
