tabula rasa
Well , guess what ? The cute marketing girl stood me up. I messaged her , and she replied “Oh sorry, I’m out with a colleague. Another time perhaps .. “. And I was like , ouchies.
Then again, she said “Another time perhaps .. “. Which is my que to ask her out again next week ^_^
So during lunch, I went to MPH and picked up the book called “Introduction to the Enlightment”.
As you might know , “the Enlightment of the 18th century was a crucial change in human history, as people began to free themselves from the authority of the Church and find their own vocation”. Oh , I ripped that line from the back of the book.
What compelled me to buy the book was the meaning of tabula rasa as written b John Locke. The dogma believes that all knowledge is derived from experience .
That’s what I always believed in. That’s why I never really liked learning by reading or just listening to advice. I’d rather make my own mistakes. Life my own life ! Do it my way !
Oh wait, that was a song already.
It also explains why I’m more of a practical person , rather than a theory based one ? I mean , rules are meant to be broken right ? I cannot stand people who would be so afraid to do something , because they’re not doing it right. Come on , be adventurous ya. Do something crazy, like ask a stranger out !
I also find it curious, that one episode of Lost was called Tabula Rasa. I wonder if it was the same one where the character Locke ( even the name is familiar … ) has his flashbacks. Let’s not psychoanalyze Lost here. It’s a pandora’s box eh.
I’ll blog more about Enlightment soon ya.

The character in Lost was named by the producers after the author John Locke. And they called that episode about him Tabula Rasa just like the author. All this contributes to the Lost mystery thing. Hats off to the producers.
Have you watched Season 2 yet, cuz we’re almost halfway through season 3 already!!!
Linux administration training?? Come on, do something crazy! Go Windows!
As for the cute marketing girl, if she’s used that “another time perhaps” line on you twice in a row without offering a specific date to make up for it, she’s probably not interested and trying to drop you a hint. If you don’t get it she will soon have no choice but to kick you in the groin and call the cops.
May I suggest chloroform.
PS: Her colleague is probably a guy.

aaaahhh another lost watcher…
anyway.. it is true that we should all be more aggresive in making choices and living our daily lives, but there are also things that, once the mistake is made, once broken, things changed forever, and can never be replaced/repaired ever again. Life itself is very fragile. There are as many to lose, just as many to gain. Of course, we have to scarifice something in order to get something, so it all boils down to whether it really is worth losing, or risk losing whatever would be sacrificed.
No worries dude,
I also got “maybe another time” from a girl I met at Laundry. An IBM accountant I heard.
Ah well
Cheers,
Adrian
farah . Sorry i slow in watching Lost. Sigh , Shufen la , dunwan to lend the DVD
And kurt , spoken like a true cynic. *respect*
and robin , that’s pretty deep. You sound like you regret doing some things in life. In any case, yes , we should be careful and weigh the pros and cons. But not until we totally miss out on life !
how many times have we not done something because we were scared of failing ? I know I did. So , I’m done with that past .
