smurfs and communism

I was reading up smurfs on wikipedia (don’t ask why) and some controversy caught my eye. Apparently some people think that smurfs are communists. Here’s why:

  • they all wear the same clothes
  • they share stuff with each other
  • each smurf has a specialized role
  • they collected their food , and distributed it fairly
  • nobody sells the food
  • S.M.U.R.F might stand for Socialist Men Under Red Father
  • Finance Smurf once tried to introduce currency to the village, and everything was in chaos
  • The enemy , Gargamel wants to turn the smurfs into gold. Gargamel represents the greed of capitalism

And Papa smurf looks like Karl Marx.

I’m still trying to figure out how they reproduce — there’s only one smurfette, and she has a very suspicious husky voice.
