should I bring Humpty to Australia ?
I once had a discussion with my boss and a few colleagues. We were talking about our imaginary friends when we were young. My boss answered “G.I Joe” , and another colleague mentioned Optimus Prime. Mine was Humpy Dumpty.
Humpty is a very soft pillow roughly the size of my head. He used to have a Humpty Dumpty cover which was frankly very ugly. His cover has since changed to plain one, but the name stuck. If you ever want to know how I smell like, you can smell him.
Yes, I am 24 and I still have a comfort pillow.
Laugh all you want, but I bet some of you are screwed up for life when your parents threw your comfort pillow away. Maybe you all just don’t know it yet, but the day your parents threw your imaginary friend away, was the day you lost your childhood. Look at me, I’m well adjusted and brilliant ! Well, mostly …
Anyways, I’ve had him since I was young and he’s been my constant companion through thick and thin. In fact, my ex-girlfriends were so jealous of him and always threatened to kill him. Then I’d give them the cold shoulder and they’ll play nice. Don’t mess with the Humpty!
Also, my brother and I used to make up an imaginary world ( inside the mirror ) where they roam and travel anywhere they want. When I said they, it means he also had imaginary friends/comfort pillows. So these 3 pillows always went on adventure and fought amongst themselves. Usually Humpty would get beaten up because he was the shortest. Julian left his imaginary friends here when he went to Melbourne.
Now the big question remains, should I bring Humpty to Australia ?
On one hand, it would be nice to have something familiar when I’m in a foreign land. On the other hand, I am conflicted with the notion of an imaginary friend. Does having one mean not growing up ? Is it a phase of life that we all grow out of ? Is it childish to own one ? What if something happened to him ?
Screw it, me and Humpty are going to have a great adventure!
Oh, do tell me about your imaginary friends/comfort pillows. I would love to hear about them. So that I know I’m not that crazy after all.

my comfort pillows are a soccer ball and a small blue pillow, which i bring with me whenever i go outta town.
yeah, it’s boring. hehe!
just bring it with you la. i brought my 2 pillows, blanket, comforter, and mogu doggie when i went to aus. (all in only 1 suitcase) nothing beats sleeping with the most comfortable things from home.
BRING THEM ! or else, he would be crying in your imaginary world
Unlike the 3 comments above me, I left my bantal busuk when I left for nz. It was a little difficult but I managed. I thought it would be a little silly being in the same bed with my bantal and my lover cause I love them both only not in the same way.
I bit my bantal growing up and that’s why it’s so busuk. But I loved it. It’s really disgusting but it was a part of me. It’s so soft and it helps me sleep.
Now there’s no bantal to bite. But, I’ve found something just as nice to bite on. People. Yeap, the human skin especially the face is very nice to bite! I kid you not.
Of course, i don’t go biting every single person I see. That would be insane.
[angelo]
a small soccer ball ? that’s kinda cute. Hey, Stephanie has a blue pillow too ! heheh
[farah]
Good idea ! Now I’m thinking of bringing my blanket too … haha , I’ve met Mogu right ?
[stephanie]
Not if you’re taking care of him !
[cazzy]
Then this replacement person for me has to endure me drooling on her ! LOL
Bring Humpty along, and when you’re in Australia, stop by a decent department store, and buy him some friends. Don’t be cheap; get good pillows.
You’re going to be spending about 1/3 of your time in Australia in bed (not necessarily your own
) so it’s worth spending a little extra on.
…
Let humpty go. He needs to fulfill his destiny falling off that wall, and you’re holding him back. Let go. Spare a thought for all the King’s Horses and all the King’s Men. They’ve been waiting too.
The downside to leaving Humpty behind is, however, that you won’t be laughed at by the girls you bring home at night anymore, and they’ll probably stick around for breakfast.
Tough choice.
HAHAHAHAHA…. yuckies~!! Nope I dont have any bantal busuk or any humpty dumpty that I am addicted to. LOL, total grossness, you peeps are just weird, or maybe I am the odd one.
It’s ok for girls to have bantal busuk, but not for guysss…. turn off dei!
LOL, just leave him or throw him larh, you are a big boy dee, u need something more realistic to hold upon and to drool over with. Best would be, ask ur mom to throw him away when u leave for Aussie. You will just forget him automatically, oh especially when you meet the hot chicks in Aussie, you will definitely forget him… LOL.
IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO THROW HIM AWAY!
no comfort pillow smells nice.
i have a bolster busuk. i acquired him quite late in life… when i was 23 or 24 but he’s now an indisposable bed mate.
oh i have a stolen MAS pillow which is not old enough to be busuk (i stole him early this year) but i like to bring him along on camping trips because he’s small enough to fit into my bag.
bring humpty, dammit. why should you have all the fun?
Bring bring! Bantal bucuk …hehe you might need him when u’re in Aus!
I used be attached this blanket i realli liked when i was young, but my mum threw it away. Sad sial
Btw, it was stitched by my late gramma.
BRING HIM, u don’t want the gals to stay around for breakfast !
[shaun]
Okay ! I won’t skimp on the pillows !
[kurt]
Why would I want them to stick around for breakfast ! hah !
[evie]
NOOOO ! Don’t mess with the humpty !!! YAARRRR
[amy]
My ex-girlfriend say humpty smell very nice. I guess they like my drool ^_^
[hedonistics]
I notice it’s a him instead of an it. No name ? Don’t listen to the non-believers here, they’re crazy.
[voch]
see ! sad rite ! Do you remember true happiness after that ? Yeah , the cover for humpty is stiched by my aunt, who’s taken care of me since I’m young.
[stephanie]
Eeeeeeee .. you’re so cute when you’re jealous ! Yes, I don’t want them to stick around for breakfast !
im not jealous ! im just saying, NICE GALS LEAVE IN THE MORNING ! wouldn’t u agree ?!
so we having dinner tonight?
I’ve still got my comfort pillows- a flat bolster and a flat pillow…in matching cases!
The thing about my imaginary friend…she is formless (yes it’s a she) so I dont confine her just to be a pillow, she’s my pillow, my blanket, my bed. and any pillow, blanket and bed I’m sleeping on.which is why I dont travel around with my pillows. so it doesnt matter which pillow I used as long as I know it is her I am with.
I do miss my bolster tho cause I cant find any here.
So when I came to Newcastle I just got myself new pillows and blanket and my imaginary friend got herself a new body
it is nothing about loyalty,it is more a spiritual thing..no?
as with Humpty…why not ask him what he wants =]
[stephanie]
nice girls know when to leave is it ?? cleverrr …
[yin lee]
that’s very cute. do they have names by any chance ?
[kaiyuan]
as long as you don’t imagine your girlfriend as your imaginary friend ! haha
oh and humpty told me he wants to go …
u’re 24 and still have a comfort pillow?? hahahah… oopsie.. just jk..
i’m 26 and i STILL have my comfort/smelly pillow.. it has been with me for 26 years! NO KIDDING.. and my pillow case are 26 years old ALSO! at one time, me and russ went to langkawi.. i brought my pillow there.. when we checked out, i FORGOT about my pillow!! it was hidden underneath the blanket.. i only realize it was missing when we were on our way to the jetty to catch the next boat back to penang.. of course i was sad.. i was DEVASTATED!! but russ said it’s time for me to move on without my pillow
when i got home, i told my mum.. i told her, i’d be sleeping without my pillow starting tonight.. guess what? she called the hotel the next day and asked them to courier it back to me!! and they did! YAY!!
now i have my pillow back and i SWEAR i won’t bring it any where again coz i might leave it behind..
oh no, speaking of my pillow.. i should call the hotel and asked them how much i’ve to pay them back AND also i’ve to send them a ‘thank you’ card.. heheh..
[nicole]
omg ! I’m so afraid of leaving humpty some where too ! that’s one of the reason why I wouldn’t want to bring him to Australia .
the pillowcase is 26 years old ? is it like, tearing already ? the original humpty pillow case is a little tattered and I’m quite sad about it.
Such a great reunion story with your pillow ! It’s just meant to be ^_^
No more happiness after it was gone huhu
Wow, bro some collection of smelly pillow stories yet to be told in yr comment box! More to come more to come..hehe
Bring Humpty with you!!! I left my Pilly(short for Pillow, yea I’m not that creative) when I left Malaysia for the first time. I spent my first semester here yearning for the touch of my soft soft Pilly.:( My mom threw him away while i was away but luckily my sister saved him from the tong sampah for me hahha. So my bantal busuk is truly busuk lol. So now wherever I go I take Pilly with me, and now he’s coming back to Malaysia with me.
Take Humpty with you on some great adventures!
(=_=)”
jason: yea my pillow case is torn already coz the material is getting thinner and thinner *sigh* all my pillow case were sew by my grandma (my dad’s mum).. since my parents separated a long long time ago, i haven’t seen my grandma then.. but then me and her aren’t SO close.. just that the pillow case are for rememberance
I still have mine and I always bring my bantal busuk during my vacations
[voch]
I know ! seems like more are coming in also …
you know what ? You all should blog about your imaginary friend/comfort pillows ! Yes, I know it’s a sensitive topic. But it seems that it’s a common thing we all have .
Not for Evie though. Seems she didn’t have a comfort pillow. Awwww …
[evie]
Awwwww … ^_^
[ee]
Heheh , Pilly is such a cute name ! Your sister is so cool for saving Pilly from a thrashy demise. You can see Nicole’s comment above, her mom saved her comfort pillow too !
[nicole]
hmmm .. time to make a new pillow case ? Just in case the inner parts get more tattered than the outside one. Wait, all your “pillow cases” ? There’s more than one ? Coooooll ^_^
[grace]
During vacations ? that’s so cute. Do people ask about it ?
See, the problem with mine is , it looks funny so people know that it’s a comfort pillow. If only it looks like a normal pillow .. LOL
I never had a comfort pillow… yea i know!.. my mum believed that children werent supposed to be pampered. so, no comfort anything, but lately(im 19) ive been not letting go of my bolster which i bought this year( i moved out this year). and immoving to aus soon!!… and my bolster is too big.. i dont know what to do… waaa
