going home in december

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

Dear blog,

I realize I haven’t been talking to you lately, you must be wondering what I’ve been up to. Well, it’s exam time and I only have one more paper to go. I think I’m going to pass, barely. Also, why does it always seem to rain during my exams ?

The weather might be getting to me though, because everything seems bleak, just like the clouds. The perfect soundtrack to accompany all this is Radiohead and Wilco, which I have been listening to a lot lately. Today I walked to university while it rained, and I have my hood and earphones on.

Realize how the world around you slows down with your music ?

Which brings me to my main point. I am going back to Malaysia in December. I have mixed feelings about this. Well I miss home a lot. I miss my friends, I miss the food, I miss driving, my ps2 and rocking out in my room. I am also looking forward to meet some new friends too.

The bad part is that the significant other currently has a boyfriend. I don’t get to spend as much time as I want with her, but I’m sure we can work things out.

Speaking of that, Brisbane girl doesn’t want me anymore. Guess she doesn’t really want an open relationship after all. Well it was fun while it lasted, so back to being single. Okay, not really single. Okay, I don’t really know what’s my status.

Sincerely,
Jason Phoon.

spring break !

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

It’s that time of the year where Australian students get a week or two off for spring. The days are noticeably warmer and the sun comes up at 5am. That’s about the time I go to sleep nowadays! Two sighs for insomnia and computer games.

I don’t have anything in particular planned for this break, except clubbing on Tuesday, Thursday and maybe Friday. A whole lot of computer games in between too! Yes, I’m staying in the city at Leon’s place but unfortunately, Kenny and Jeff are in Melbourne so no male bonding. I guess we just have to fit in a girl to complete the picture right ?

Speaking of girls, I’ve been seeing someone lately. It’s probably still too soon to go into detail at the moment, except to say that it happened so fast that I still don’t know what to make of it. I thought she was kinda scary the first time I met her, but I was wrong. I guess I shouldn’t be so afraid of the evil within women all the time …

There won’t be a comic tomorrow cause I don’t have a scanner here, but I do have something else planned for this blog. Stay tuned !

say hello to good times

Saturday, September 8th, 2007

Perhaps it’s pointless to say that life has good and bad times. Perhaps the ebb and flow of life is unpredictable and out of our control and all we can do is just sit back and ride it out when all seems turbulent.

Truth be told, I’ve been felling rather lethargic and uninspired lately. Somehow my confidence has taken a dip for reasons unknown. I’ve been waking up late, not looking forward to the new day and sleeping in, hoping to get a good dream at least.

Bad things could happen, like for example finding out at the last minute that the assignment is due next Monday instead of Friday. Or like the time I want to dry my clothes but it rained (for the third time in this drought season).

So you just ride it out and wait.

Then the good things happen. Like buying my new guitar. Going out with this jap girl that I might be interested in. Playing computer games. Buying my new guitar. Getting my 18+ card. Drinking with the buddies and partying.

Then you say hello to the good times.

Brisbane Riverfire Festival

It was 30 minutes of fireworks by the river! Then there were jets flying around making loud noises! But somehow, watching fireworks without a special someone is just not the same.

Studying throughout the weekdays

My weekdays are basically filled with assignments and studying. I found a spot in university where I like to bring my laptop and overlook the dry forest outside. The scenery makes doing assignments easier to bear …

a weekend in the city

On the weekends, I would head to Brisbane City to hang out with my friends. Usually we’d drink ourselves silly, attend some event and play computer games until the sun rises. Then we’ll get terrible hangovers and the guilt of unfinished assignments.

Me and my guitar, Bob.

I just bought an acoustic guitar yesterday! I’ll call it Bob, named after my old mosquito racket (god bless his soul) and my ex-colleague Bob (the blues man). I just like the name Bob, okay.

updated the “about” page

I’ve rewritten the about page to look like a wikipedia entry ! Well I’ll just copy and paste what’s on the about page here :

Jason Phoon

Jason Phoon is a blogger and some-time comic artist. He is known for his off-beat humor, sometimes poignant blog entries and nonsensical comics. He also wears his heart on his sleeve and is not afraid to blog about his fears and emotions.

Ancestry
His family’s ancestry is from the Guangxi province of China. His grandfather and great-grandfather left China during the Chinese Civil War to work on a rubber plantation in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. It was there that Jason Phoon’s grandfather married and had 15 children.

Jason Phoon’s father was a kid with a scrawny frame and big ambitions. He would pursue a scholarship in Taiwan and left his hometown of Negeri Sembilan. After returning to Malaysia, he would then cycle to Kuala Lumpur and find work. There he met Jason’s mother ( who was his neighbor ) and they got married.

They then went on a honeymoon and Jason Phoon was probably conceived in Korea.

Early Life
Jason Phoon was born on 12 July 1983 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He would then go to pre-school, school, university and work within only 2 square kilometers of each other.

Career
Jason has worked as a freelance web-designer during university and also some time after. In 2006, he joined (if )interactive , an interactive media consultancy, specializing in games and cutting edge websites.

paying for love in a lap dance

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

For my birthday, instead of spending it at home going online or something, I called a few friends that I know in Brisbane and we went to a strip club ! My friend knows a good place in Fortitude Valley that’s easy on the wallet and easy on the eyes too. I think the place is called Cabaret Club.

At the moment, my face still smells like Christian Dior because of all the breasts rubbing against my face. I think there was a total of 5 pairs. That’s like , 10 boobies man!

Some of them were rather unenthusiastic, like they were just doing their jobs. One was very kind though, knowing that it was my birthday unzipped my jumper and went very slow on me while whispering in my ear. What a wonderful caricature of intimacy.

By the way, the policy is touch anywhere but between the thighs.

The highlight of the night was when 2 blondes gave me a private show. They were sitting on each of my legs, while making out with each other and rubbing themselves on me. To add to the atmosphere, metal music was playing. A Perfect Circle and Deftones. Two of my favorite bands.

All in all, it was a pretty good experience!

Thanks guys for the beer and lap dances, it’s an excellent birthday present.
