childish fears

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

When I was young, I was very imaginative kid. This ‘imagination’ also led to many fears. Here’s some that I can remember:

  • Truman Syndrome
Just like the movie( The Truman Show, 1998), I imagined that my whole life is some kind of bizarre reality tv-show featuring the life of an ordinary guy. I was paranoid that my close friends and family were all actors, and I had this terrible feeling that people are watching me all the time. This continued until I was about 14.
  • Reverse Gravity
I used to play badminton with my brother and dad in this sports club. The ceiling was very high, and I would imagine that gravity would suddenly reverse and everyone would just fall upwards. So once in a while, I stood where the ceiling is low, just in case the reverse gravity thing happens.
  • Psychic Spies
When I enter a room with a lot of people, I was always paranoid that one of them can read my mind. I even had conversations with this ‘psychic’, but I never got a reply.
  • Girls
Between the ages of 7 and 12, I hated girls. I don’t know, just something wrong about them. I’ve grown to love them, but I still fear them sometimes.
  • Frogs
Oh wait, I’m still afraid of frogs. My theory is that I might have stepped on one in the park during karate class. Ewww …

That’s all I can think of at the moment. Well, at least I’ve outgrown most of these fears. Any of you share any of these fears ? How about fears of your own when you were young?

open relationships

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Some time ago I was in one. What does it mean ? Well, in my definition that means you can date anyone you want, even though you have a girlfriend/boyfriend. Now isn’t that interesting?

You see, this is different from cheating because both parties know about each other. Hopefully, they don’t mind either. And if one is lucky enough …. hehehe.

The reasons to get into one are varied. They might include:

  • Long distance relationship
  • Experiment
  • Variety
  • Fun

On the down side, it’s only a matter of time before things get complicated. One party might want to get serious, while the other just wants to have fun. I guess when that time comes, there has to be a re-negotiation. So it’s always wise to establish some rules before starting.

So what do you think of open relationships? Have you been in one? Do you think you can handle one?

What is the worst breakup line you ever heard?

Friday, October 12th, 2007

When I was younger, I told a girl “I don’t deserve you”. That was probably one of the worst breakup lines a girl can receive, because she got really angry and proceeded to spam me with a hundred questions. All of which I have no answer.

Okay, maybe that wasn’t as bad as when I told a girl “I kinda like someone else …”. That was six years ago and she still wouldn’t talk to me today.

Then there was one I received, where she said “I don’t know …”. That took me 5 years to get over, and now we’re buddies. I figured that I was a really jealous and possessive guy back then. Oh how the times have changed.

So what’s the worst breakup line you ever heard or said?

ps: I’m trying this new weekly “ask the readers” column. Do read the comments cause my readers are usually more interesting than me!
