can’t sing ? just auto-tune

Ever wondered why some of the artists today are just terrible live ? They sound perfectly good on record, yet horrible on stage.

Think of the vocals on these songs:

  • Maroon 5 - She will be loved
  • Avril Lavigne - Complicated
  • Sean Kingston - Beautiful Girl
  • T-Pain - Bartender
  • Cher - Believe

You know that digitally strained, warbly and metallic vocal effect ? That’s not a vocal effect, that’s a fucking machine correcting pitch problems for these singers !

It’s called auto-tune and it’s ruining the music industry.

Why is it ruining the music industry ? Why, because of auto-tune, crap like Paris Hilton and Ashlee Simpson actually think they can release albums ! (In actual fact, one lip-syncs and the other just pukes on stage).

Some of these musicians can actually perform live (such as Maroon 5). So it’s weird when the studio executives decide to use this robotizer effect. Some will argue that it enhances the song, but I don’t know. Personally, I prefer if the singers don’t sound digitized.

Urgh, I don’t know why this annoys me so much.

If God hadn’t put the Paris’s and Ashlees (as well as the Britneys and Jessicas) on this planet, many thousands of audio engineers would be out of work!

ooh… is this PMS im sensing?

i know what ur talkin about. kylie minouge has that robotic sound to her tunes too, and i can see why it annoys u becuz with this tech, bad singers actually make millions and cheap songs are produced.

BUT… honestly (u’re gonna hate me)… but i actually think the effect makes some songs sound reli good. HAHA… :) i’ve always loved kylie, and i love britney’s stuff too. paris’ stars are blind and nothing in this world, i likey. HAHAa :) - and yes, i do love a couple of ashlee songs as well.

the effect just makes the song sound so much more catchy. :)

BUT… the robotic effect doesnt work for everyone of course, and shouldnt be. only cuz its not the right genre.

BUT also… i know how it feels to be disappointed when u hear ur fav song performed live and it sounds like crap. i absolutely hated hoobastank live!! they totally tore “the reason” to shreads!! and i lovedd that song!! sigh.

ooH… i better stop. i need to stop bloggin in other people’s blog!!!

    Totally agree with you.

Although if you do a search on Youtube, you’ll find that Maroon 5 sometimes does sing their songs live in a lower key. ;)

I still like them as a band though.

trueee , they’re quite good live, that’s why I mentioned that they could.
