iyasu
Tuesday, September 4th, 2007Yesterday I was feeling a little Japanesey, so I had to know what my name was in Japanese. I came upon this translator, and found out my name is :

(jeison)
Well, that shows the calligraphy in different fonts, which is quite cool. But then I also found another site which shows the Kanji and the equivalent meaning too. Turns out the Kanji is:

iyasu
(heal)
I think it’s also the chinese character for ‘heal’ ? Correct me if I’m wrong.
Coincidentally, the english name Jason comes from the Greek word Ιασων, which means ‘heal’.
Too bad I’m not a doctor
Now go hunt for your own Japanese name!
*update*
Seems that the katakana is not converted to the kanji. The meaning of the name comes from the greek or english equivalent, and then they find the kanji for that word.
