Imagine two cavemen in prehistoric times.
One of them is the alpha male of the group. He’s the one with the biggest club (figuratively and literally), the strongest and the primary hunter. It is easy to spot him, as he leads the pack of hunters with the wild look on his eyes and his loud roar.
Now imagine a smaller sized male sitting alone in the cave creating weapons and thinking of ways to create a sharper spear. He gets along well with the females because he spends more time in the caves instead of going out hunting with the guys. Oh and he speaks softly too.
Their methods for wooing women are particularly different as well. The alpha-male would just club and then drag their women to their caves and have their way with them. Usually the women don’t mind , because all other women want to be with the alpha-male anyway. Why ? Because women want something other women want.
Notice how a man is suddenly more attractive if he has a woman by his side?
The nerd however, befriends the cavewoman first. Gets to know her, chats with her friends and pick berries for her. Modernly, this translates to the new age sensitive guy. One who is tuned with his feelings, cares for the woman emotionally and knows how to pick the right berries. He has a lot of girl friends but not girlfriends.
As a female, which caveman would you prefer ?
It’s that time of the year where Australian students get a week or two off for spring. The days are noticeably warmer and the sun comes up at 5am. That’s about the time I go to sleep nowadays! Two sighs for insomnia and computer games.
I don’t have anything in particular planned for this break, except clubbing on Tuesday, Thursday and maybe Friday. A whole lot of computer games in between too! Yes, I’m staying in the city at Leon’s place but unfortunately, Kenny and Jeff are in Melbourne so no male bonding. I guess we just have to fit in a girl to complete the picture right ?
Speaking of girls, I’ve been seeing someone lately. It’s probably still too soon to go into detail at the moment, except to say that it happened so fast that I still don’t know what to make of it. I thought she was kinda scary the first time I met her, but I was wrong. I guess I shouldn’t be so afraid of the evil within women all the time …
There won’t be a comic tomorrow cause I don’t have a scanner here, but I do have something else planned for this blog. Stay tuned !

ahoy there !
AHOOOY MATEYS !!!!
AVAST! Today is talk like a pirate day ! If you don’t ?! Well then you can go WALK THE PLANK, arRr!!
Aye! How shall I celebrate ye ask ? arRr!, I was thinking of jumping in the pool behind my house! It’ll be cold lad, but shiver me timbers if it don’t wake me up! Then later I be eating a fine meal of cereal and fruit. You gotta eat your fruits, cause fruits prevent SCURRRVVVY, arRr!
Truth be told lads, I have trouble sleeping . Perhaps I didn’t have enough grog. arRr!! At this rate, I be sleeping only 6 hours o sleep. Now where’s my eyepatch ? Curse ye all landlubbers !
Now go blog like a PIRATE !
Aye aye captain !
I’ve had trouble waking up early lately. Usually I press the snooze button on my alarm clock 4 or 5 times until it turns off by itself. This usually results in me waking up at 12pm, which means I skip my Friday morning class.
Perhaps you can even take this snooze metaphor to describe how I live my life sometimes. Like how I procrastinate over the weekend to work on my resume, delaying to call someone, working on my assignments or even to write this damned blog entry.
It’s ironic that I wrote “blog about procrastination” in my to-do list a month ago.
I came upon an article on Zen Habits (a good motivational blog) which talks about positive and negative feedbacks. Basically , in order to change a bad habit you need to increase or decrease feedback associated with the habit.
For example, if you want to lose weight, positive feedback would be people telling you how great you look. Unfortunately, this might take a while and most people never get to that stage.
So back to my problem. To increase negative feedback for my bad habit (sleeping in), I would:
Now waking up early is only the start of many things to come!
Time to wake up!
